XVR Point-to-Point Wireless Bridges are sold in pre-paired pairs and normally work out of the box without configuration.
The web management interface is only needed when you want to change settings, access advanced options, or configure features such as Point-to-Multipoint operation. The procedure below connects directly to one bridge at a time. Repeat the same process for each additional bridge you need to configure.
Default Login Information
Default IP Address: 192.168.188.253
Default Password: admin
There are two ways to access the bridge:
- Direct wired Ethernet connection
- Direct Wi-Fi connection
Method 1 – Connect Using a Wired Ethernet Connection
Use this method when connecting a laptop directly to the bridge with an Ethernet cable.
Step 1 – Configure the Laptop Network Address
Set the laptop's wired Ethernet adapter to the following static IPv4 settings:
IP Address: 192.168.188.123
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
No gateway or DNS settings are required for this direct connection.
Step 2 – Connect the Ethernet Cable
Connect an Ethernet cable between the laptop and either Ethernet port on the XVR bridge.
Step 3 – Open the Web Interface
Open a web browser and enter:
http://192.168.188.253
When prompted, enter the default password:
admin
You should now be logged into the bridge's web management interface.
Method 2 – Connect Using the Bridge's Management Wi-Fi
The XVR bridge also provides a management Wi-Fi network that allows you to access the web interface without an Ethernet cable.
Step 1 – Find the Bridge MAC Address
Look at the product label on the back of the bridge.
Locate the MAC address and note the last 6 digits.
For example:
MAC Address: XX:XX:XX:00:07:03
The last six digits would be:
000703
Step 2 – Connect to the Management Wi-Fi Network
On your laptop, open the list of available Wi-Fi networks.
Look for a wireless network named:
CPE_Manager_XXXXXX
The six X's correspond to the last 6 digits of the bridge's MAC address.
For example, if the last six MAC digits are:
000703
the Wi-Fi network will appear as:
CPE_Manager_000703
The example shown in the original guide also illustrates the bridge label and the corresponding CPE_Manager Wi-Fi network name.
Step 3 – Open the Web Interface
After connecting to the bridge's management Wi-Fi, the bridge will automatically assign an IP address to your laptop.
Open a browser and enter:
http://192.168.188.253
Log in using the default password:
admin
You should now have access to the XVR bridge web management interface.
Troubleshooting
If the web page does not open:
- Verify the bridge is powered on and has completed booting indicated by the WiFi LED lit (could take 2 minutes).
- Confirm you are connected directly to the correct bridge.
- For a wired connection, verify the laptop Ethernet adapter is set to
192.168.188.123with subnet mask255.255.255.0. - For a Wi-Fi connection, verify you are connected to the correct
CPE_Manager_XXXXXXnetwork. - Make sure you are entering
http://192.168.188.253in the browser address bar. - Temporarily disconnect from any other active network connection if the laptop is trying to route traffic through another interface.
Important
If you change the bridge's IP address during configuration, use the new IP address for future access rather than the factory-default 192.168.188.253.
