XVR Wireless Bridge – Point-to-Multipoint Configuration

Nick P

he XVR Wireless Bridges can be configured in a Point-to-Multipoint arrangement using one Master bridge and up to 8 Slave bridges.

This configuration can be completed using the hardware selector switches and pairing buttons. No web login is required.

Before You Begin

Place all bridges together on a bench and leave them powered off.

You will configure:

  • 1 Master Bridge
  • Up to 8 Slave Bridges
  • Pair each Slave one at a time

Do not power on all Slave bridges at once during the pairing process.

Step 1 – Identify the Master and Slave Bridges

Designate one bridge as the Master.

The remaining bridges will be configured as Slaves.

Step 2 – Set the Master Bridge

On the bridge designated as the Master, move the selector switch to:

M – Master

Step 3 – Set the Slave Bridges

On each remaining bridge, move the selector switch to:

S – Slave

The system supports up to 8 Slave bridges connected to one Master bridge.

Step 4 – Power the Master and First Slave

Power on:

  • The Master bridge
  • One Slave bridge

Leave the remaining Slave bridges powered off.

Allow both bridges to complete their startup sequence.

Step 5 – Wait for the Wi-Fi Indicator

Wait until the Wi-Fi indicator is illuminated or flashing on both bridges.

This indicates that the bridges have finished booting and are ready for pairing.

Step 6 – Pair the First Slave

Press the pairing button on the Master bridge for approximately 1 second.

Next, press the pairing button on the Slave bridge for approximately 1 second.

Step 7 – Confirm Successful Pairing

Allow up to 2 minutes for the pairing process to complete.

Pairing is successful when all four signal-strength LEDs are solid.

If Pairing Does Not Complete

If all four signal LEDs do not become solid within approximately 2 minutes:

  1. Press the pairing button on the Master again for approximately 1 second.
  2. Press the pairing button on the Slave again for approximately 1 second.
  3. Allow the bridges additional time to complete pairing.

Step 8 – Add Additional Slave Bridges

After the first Slave has successfully paired, leave the Master bridge powered on.

Power on the next Slave bridge.

Wait until its Wi-Fi indicator illuminates or begins flashing.

Then repeat the pairing process:

  1. Press the Master pairing button for approximately 1 second.
  2. Press the new Slave pairing button for approximately 1 second.
  3. Wait for all four signal-strength LEDs to become solid.

Repeat this process for each additional Slave bridge.

A single Master can support up to 8 Slave bridges.

Installation and Positioning

After bench pairing is complete, the bridges can be installed at their final locations.

Proper positioning is important for maintaining a reliable wireless connection.

Line of Sight

Maintain a clear line of sight between the Master bridge and every Slave bridge.

Avoid positioning the bridges where the wireless path is blocked by:

  • Buildings
  • Trees
  • Walls
  • Large structures
  • Other physical obstructions

Obstructions can reduce signal strength and wireless performance.

Horizontal Coverage

The Master bridge has approximately:

60° horizontal coverage

All Slave bridges should be positioned within this coverage area in front of the Master bridge.

For Point-to-Multipoint installations, the Master should be aimed toward the center of the group of Slave bridges.

Vertical Coverage

The Master bridge has approximately:

30° vertical coverage

This is approximately:

±15° from the center line of the Master bridge

Slave bridges should remain within this vertical coverage area.

Point-to-Multipoint Positioning Example

The Master bridge should have clear line of sight to every Slave, with all Slave bridges located within the Master bridge's 60° horizontal and 30° vertical coverage area.

Factory Reset

If a bridge needs to be returned to factory defaults:

  1. Power on the bridge.
  2. Press and hold the pairing button for approximately 10 seconds.
  3. Release the button.

The bridge will restore its factory-default configuration.

Final Verification

Before completing the installation, verify the following:

  • Master selector is set to M
  • Every Slave selector is set to S
  • No more than 8 Slave bridges are connected to one Master
  • Slaves were paired one at a time
  • Wi-Fi indicator was active before pairing
  • Successful pairing is confirmed by four solid signal LEDs
  • The Master has clear line of sight to every Slave
  • All Slaves are within the 60° horizontal coverage area
  • All Slaves are within the 30° vertical coverage area
  • Signal strength is verified after final mounting and alignment
