How to setup Cross Counting on my X-Series Device?

Cross Counting is an advanced AI feature on X-Series devices that enables you to define a custom line crossing within the camera’s field of view that detects and counts events when objects cross it. You can also specify the direction of movement that triggers an event, enhancing security by focusing on specific crossing scenarios. Below are the steps to set up this feature

Step 1: Access the Device

• Log in to your X-Series device using your credentials.

Step 2: Navigate to Cross Counting Settings

• Go to Main Menu > Setup > AI > Setup > Cross Counting tab.

Step 3: Configure Cross Counting Settings

Adjust the following options to meet your requirements:

• Channel: Select the camera channel to configure for Cross Counting detection.
• Enable: Toggle this option to activate the Cross Counting feature for the selected channel.
• Sensitivity: Adjust the sensitivity level for detecting objects or persons crossing the line. Higher values increase sensitivity, while lower values reduce false triggers.
• Detection Target: Choose the type of objects to detect:
  • Pedestrian: Detects human-like figures.
  • Motor Vehicle: Detects motorized vehicles.
  • Non-Motorized Vehicle: Detects non-motorized vehicles (e.g., bicycles).
  • Motion: Anything that crosses the line
  • Select one based on your needs.
• Alarm Number: The NVR will trigger an alert when the difference between the number of entries and exits surpasses the predefined alarm threshold.  (For example, if the number of entries is 601, the number of exits is 400, and the alarm threshold is set to 200, the calculation is 601 - 400 = 201. Since 201 exceeds 200, the NVR will trigger an alert.)
• Start & End Timer: Specify the start and end times (in hours of the day) during which you want this feature to be active and counting.
• Rule Enable: Toggle to activate the selected rule.
• Rule Type: Define the direction of movement that triggers an event:
  • A→B: Triggers when an object moves from point A to point B across the line.
  • B→A: Triggers when an object moves from point B to point A across the line.
• Draw Rule: In the live video feed, click and hold to draw a virtual line where you want the counting to occur. The drawn line will display the selected rule type, allowing you to verify and ensure the direction aligns with your preference.

Step 4: Save Settings

• Click Save to apply all configured settings.

Scheduling Cross Counting on X-Series Devices

To ensure the Cross Counting feature on your X-Series device is active during specific times, you next need to configure a schedule for when the AI feature operates. Follow these steps to set up the schedule for Cross Counting.

Step 5: Configure the Line Crossing Detection Schedule

1. Navigate to Main Menu > Setup > AI > Setup > Schedule.
2. Select the Channel you want to schedule Cross Counting for.
3. Click the Enable option to activate scheduling for the selected channel.
4. From the list of available AI features, select Cross Counting.
5. In the schedule interface, click and drag to draw a box around the days of the week and hours of the day when you want the Cross Counting feature to be active.
6. (Optional) Use the Copy option to apply the same schedule to other channels, if desired, or configure each channel individually.
7. Click Save to confirm the schedule settings.

Configuring Triggered Actions for Cross Counting on X-Series Devices

To enhance the functionality of Cross Counting on your X-Series device, you can configure specific actions to trigger when a Cross Counting event is detected. This step is optional but allows for customized responses such as notifications, recordings, or alerts. Below are the steps to set up triggered actions.

Step 6: Configure Triggered Actions (Optional)

1. Navigate to Main Menu > Alarm > AI > Cross Counting.
2. Set up the desired actions to trigger when a lCross Counting event is detected:
   • Channel: Select the camera channel to apply the alarm settings to.
   • Buzzer: Enable to make the XVR/NVR emit a beep when a Cross Counting is detected.
   • Latch Time: Specify the duration (in seconds) for the buzzer to sound after detection.
   • Post Recording: Set the duration (in seconds) for the device to continue recording after the Cross Counting event ends.
   • Send Email: Enable to send an email notification when a Cross Counting occurs (requires email configuration in Network Settings).
   • Show Message: Enable to display an on-screen message when a Cross Counting is detected.
   • Full Screen: Enable to display the camera feed in full-screen mode upon detection.
   • FTP Picture & Video Upload: Enable to upload pictures or videos to an FTP server when a Cross Counting occurs (requires FTP configuration in Storage Settings).
   • Cloud Picture & Cloud Video: Enable to upload pictures or videos to a cloud storage service when a Cross Counting occurs (requires cloud configuration in Storage Settings).
   • Enable Record: Enable to initiate recording when a Cross Counting is detected.
   • Record Channel: Select the channel(s) to record upon detection. By default, the configured channel is selected, but additional channels can be included if desired.
3. Click Save to confirm the alarm settings.
