Adding a Camera to an X-Series XVR or NVR

Accessing the Channel Setup

  1. From the X-Series XVR/NVR interface, open the Setup Menu

  2. Select the Channel option.

Preparing the Channel

  1. Identify the channel to which you want to add a camera.

  2. For NVRs with built-in PoE ports you may have to adjust the following:

    • Click the Edit icon next to the desired channel.

    • Change the Switch Mode from Auto to Manual. This will enable the Add icon for that channel.

Adding a Camera

There are two methods to add a camera: Search (auto-detection) and Manual (manual entry).

Option 1: Adding a Camera via Search

  1. Click the Add icon next to the selected channel.

  2. Select the Search option to display a list of detected devices on the network.

  3. Locate the IP address of the camera you wish to add.
Note: Third-party ONVIF cameras may not be detected by the XVR/NVR.

  4. Select the camera from the list to auto-populate the configuration fields.

  5. For X-Series cameras, verify and, if necessary, update the Username and Password fields. For third-party ONVIF cameras, ensure all fields are correct, including setting the Protocol to ONVIF.

  6. Click Add to register the camera.

Option 2: Adding a Camera Manually

  1. Click the Add icon next to the selected channel.

  2. Manually input the camera’s details, including:

    • Device Name: A custom name for the camera as it will appear on the XVR/NVR.

    • IP Address : Use the camera’s IP address

    • Protocol: Set to Private for X-Series cameras or ONVIF for third-party cameras.

    • HTTP Port: Set to 80 unless modified on the camera.

    • Username and Password: Enter the credentials used to log in to the camera.

  3. Click Add to register the camera.

Verifying Camera Addition

  1. After adding, the camera will appear in the IP Channels list on the XVR/NVR.

  2. Check the State column for a green status, indicating a successful connection.

  3. If the status does not turn green, review the entered information for accuracy and correct any errors, referring to any displayed error messages for guidance.
