X-Series License Plate Recognition (LPR) Configuration Instructions
Follow these steps to configure License Plate Recognition (LPR) on your X-Series device:
Access the LPR Settings:
Log in to your X-Series device and navigate to Settings > AI > Setup > License Plate section.
Select the Channel (NVR Only):
If configuring through a NVR or XVR, select the desired channel for LPR setup from the "Channel" option.
If configuring directly on the camera, the "Channel" option will not be available.
Enable LPR:
Activate the LPR feature by selecting the "Enable" option.
Set Snap Mode:
Leave the "Snap Mode" setting at its default value.
Adjust Pixel Settings:
Configure the "Min Pixel" and "Max Pixel" settings to define the size range of license plates to be detected as recorded events.
A green box will appear on the camera’s preview video feed to the right, visually representing the size the plate has to be based off the Min and Max pixel adjustments made.
Set Detection Target:
Ensure the "Detection Target" option is set to "American License Plate."
Configure Detection Mode:
Set the detection mode to "Hybrid" (recommended) to capture both stationary and moving license plates.
Alternatively, select "Motion Mode" to detect only moving vehicles’ license plates.
Define Detection Area:
Choose to draw a custom detection area within the camera’s field of view (FOV) to specify where license plates should be detected, or select "Full Screen" mode to detect license plates across the entire FOV.
Once configured, click "Save" to apply the settings.
9. Set LPR Schedule:
Navigate to Settings > AI > Schedule.
Select the camera you want to configure for LPR.
Choose the "License Plate" option and enable it.
Define the desired time frame for LPR coverage by drawing the schedule on the provided timeline.
Save the settings to activate the schedule.

LPR Database Configuration
Follow these steps to configure License Plate Recognition (LPR) Database settings on your X-Series device:
Access the License Plate Management Settings:
Log in to your X-Series device and navigate to Main Menu (Setup) > AI > Recognition > License Plate Management.
You will find three pre-existing groups: Allow List, Block List, and Unknown List.
Configure Allow and Block Lists:
Within the Allow List and Block List, add or import license plate numbers to create a database for each group. The Allow List will comprise license plate numbers identified as safe and not requiring attention, whereas the Block List will include license plate numbers designated as problematic and necessitating alerts or further scrutiny. These lists can be customized with user-defined names if wanted/needed and can be used in a variety of ways.
You can also create additional groups as needed.
Configure Unknown List:
Enable the Unknown List option to allow the system to detect potential license plates that cannot be definitively identified as valid plates.
Save Settings:
After configuring the lists, save your settings to apply the changes.

LPR Alarm Configuration
Purpose of Configuring Alarm Settings
The alarm settings are where you can set up what you want to happen whenever a license plate is picked up and sorted into its corresponding group (list). For example, if you want your X-Series device to send you an email whenever a license plate within the Block List is flagged, this is where you would set this up.
Steps to Configure License Plate Recognition (LPR) Alarm Settings on an X-Series Device
- Access the Alarm Settings: Go to Main Menu > Setup > AI > Alarm > License Plate Recognition to locate the Alarm section.
- Enable Alarms: Identify the three default lists (Allow, Block, and Unknown). Activate alarms for a specific list by selecting the "Enable" or toggle option.
- Configure Alarm Parameters: Adjust the settings across the four available columns:
- Fault-Tolerant: Modify the tolerance level for license plate detection within each group. Higher settings increase detection sensitivity but may lead to false positives.
- Alarm: Define the actions triggered when a license plate is recognized in a list. Choose from multiple options, each with distinct advantages, and save your selections.
- Alarm Schedule: Set the time periods during which the configured alarms will be active.
- Alarm Channel: Specify the channels to which the alarm configurations will apply.
By following these steps, users can customize the LPR alarm settings to align with their specific monitoring and notification needs.
